Expansion connectors

Expansion connectors are flexible connecting elements for power transmission that can also withstand powerful physical forces, meaning they also guarantee a reliable electric connection in difficult conditions.

Expansion connectors (also known as laminated connectors) are comprised of thin layers of copper or aluminium (0.05 to 1.5 mm) that are layered on top of one another. After the ends have been press-welded, the connectors can then be processed into individual connectors according to specific customer demands. Electrolytic copper (>99.9% pure) is used, or alternatively oxygen-free copper (Cu-OF) and aluminium where needed. Depending on the customer requirements, the surface is left untreated or given a silver, tin or nickel coating.

The flexibility of the expansion connectors has proven beneficial in all applications where the conductor is subjected to powerful external forces – such as switching surges, oscillations or vibrations – or where a rigid connection is not possible on devices and machines. Expansion connectors are used in mechanical and plant engineering, in energy production or in automotive engineering.

  • Between bus bars and switchgears
  • Between motors and machine parts

Thanks to state-of-the-art production technology, our expansion connectors are extremely resistant to external influences and feature optimal mechanical and thermal stability. This allows them to compensate for thermal expansion, plus mounting tolerances during installation. We always develop our solutions in close cooperation with our customers and in accordance with specific requirements, when needed. As a classic solution provider, we would be happy to help in any way we can – right from the planning and project management phase onwards.
